"[Architect Wayne] Leong considered the outdoor living rooms as important as the indoor ones. Adjacent to the indoor kitchen is an outdoor one with a beehive-shaped stone pizza oven Leong designed to evoke Provence's Mesolithic storage structures and shelters. 'The flues for pizza ovens tend to be in front, and if you don't make an effort to make these ovens look interesting, they end up looking like dog houses on steroids with a smokestack on the front,' Leong says.
'But by piling the stones high, we were able to run the flue out the center.' "
