A Whiter Shade of Pale

Do you wear white before Memorial Day? In honor of everyone who obeys the "no white after Labor Day" rule as well as those who choose to break it, I offer a whiter shade of pale . . .

Designer Smith Hanes "turned a negative into a fresh, beautiful positive: he broke up the long hallway leading to the master suite by adding a row of ethereal white portieres. Bedside tables are vintage John Dickinson."

"Architect [Stuart] Disston was inspired by an old Shaker design when he created the curving staircase off the kitchen. Even the dogs appreciate it.
