" 'My universal equinoctial ring dial is English and dates from about 1730. Essentially, it's a type of sundial that allows you to tell the time wherever you are in the world, as long as the sun is shining. It was cutting-edge technology at the time, and these were important navigational tools for sailors. I've set it and seen it work, but I don't have all the technical know-how to really use it properly. I bought it because it's beautiful - a combination of art, science, and mathematics,' " said by designer David Easton.
